SWGfL BoB (Blog of Blogs) is a new resource bringing together the best Blogs from across the region and beyond. Supporting Primary, Secondary, Technology and Teaching and Learning.

By taking advantage of RSS technology the latest postings from each Blog can be found together with direct links to each site. Each month there will be a special feature of particular interest to the wider Blogging community and our first article has been written by Richard Knights who is a Digital Media Consultant with Devon Local Authority.

SWGfL BOB can be found at www.swgfl.org.uk/bob. If you know of a good Blog not already featured, let us know by e-mailing ian.southwell@swgfl.org.uk

New Learning and Teaching Resources on the uLearn Website.

September 30, 2008 07:02 by Ian

A series of workshops exploring the potential and functionality of the new uLearn interface took place across the region during the summer term. As a result, additional learning resources and support for teachers has been added including schemes of work and tutorials. A flyer can be downloaded below which explains in more detail how to access these resources.

Geography is strongly supported with advice and guidance on how learners can research their locality and school environment at key stages 1 and 2.  For Key Stage 3 and beyond, the QCA’s ‘the importance of geography’ states that pupils must ‘learn to think spatially and use maps, visual images and new technologies, including Geographical Information Systems (GIS), to obtain, present and analyse information.’ uLearn helps Geography teachers to address these requirements in the Revised Geography curriculum.

To access uLearn, visit the website at www.ulearn.infomapper.com. We would be very interested in hearing about projects across the region using uLearn, that we can share with the teaching community. Email ian.southwell@swgfl.org.uk
